The 60's Invasion was all I expected and more. They just may be one of the best shows in our 2006 concert season. This is a show band with experienced musicians who know how to engage and entertain an audience and they did just that for 90-minutes of nostalgia, comedy, audience participation and, yes, some great old time rock 'n roll. David, Jack, Bob and Dave worked hard the entire evening and the audience showed its appreciation with a standing ovation at the end of an extended encore. Some weeks have passed now but the word on the street remains the same, "Fantastic show. You've got to have them back." I agree and we most definitely will. Their marvelous performance for the Music on the Mall series was the largest crowd we had all summer. It was a thrill for the audience to hear the songs rendered with such fine musicianship, and sounding so close to all of their original favorites. Everyone really appreciated the capsules of humor and history which they included with the presentation of each song.

A special moment of the night was when they invited members of the audience to participate in a percussion lesson. And after a brief but thorough, and utterly entertaining instruction, they had them all assisting in the "way cool" rhythm section of the timeless surf hit "Wipe Out." They have done it again. What a great concert. After last year's concert, I told them how the senior citizens loved their music and requested that the 60s' Invasion return this year. Very few bands get requested back by popular demand. Theirs did, and boy did they deliver. The crowd was bigger, more diverse, and just as enthusiastic as last year.
