Commonwealth Brass Quintet
The CBQ are an ensemble of Artisitic Flare and Finnesse!
The CBQ is just a part of Commonwealth Brass. The
entire ensemble consists of over twenty professional
musicians in the greater Boston area. These
members include players with the Boston POPS,
Boston Ballet, Lyric Opera, Boston Academy of Music,
and pit orchestra members of the Wang, Colonial, and
Schubert Theaters. The Group performs for weddings,
graduations, commencements, parties, corporate
functions and funerals. The CBQ was founded in 1977
at Boston University's School for the Arts, as a Graduate
Touring Ensemble. Early appearances of the group
included the opening of the J.F. Kennedy Library in
South Boston, Pope John Paul II's visit to Boston in
1978, the founding of Chamber Music Series at the
Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, and Marsh Chapel at
Boston University, Quintet-in-Residence at Old North
Church for three years, and live performances on
WCRB, WBUR, and WGBH. Recently, the CBQ has
been working for the Mayor's Office of Boston for over
eight years, performing for all types of ceremonies. On
January 7, 2002, the CBQ performed for the Mayor of
Boston, the Honorable Thomas M. Memino's
Inauguration at Fanueil Hall, which was broadcast live
on the local major TV networks. |
